Everlasting Love...

Image
Once upon a time, there was an old man named Vikranth who is living along with his wife. They lived in a small house on the outskirts of a city. One day, his wife, who had a very long hair asked him to buy her a comb for her hair to grow well and to be well-groomed. The man felt very sorry and said No. He explained that he did not even have enough money to fix the strap of his watch that he had just broken. She did not insist on her request. The man went to work as usual. But while he was returning back home, he passed by a watch shop, sold his damaged watch at a low price and went to buy a comb for his wife. He came home in the evening with the comb wrapped in his hands ready to give to his wife. But he was surprised when he saw his wife with a very short hair cut. She had sold her hair and was holding a new watch band in her hands for him. Tears flowed simultaneously from their eyes, not for the futility of their actions, but for the reciprocity of their love. ...

Understanding our Parents

Image
Once a young man went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.  He passed the initial interview, and now would meet the director for the final interview. The director discovered from his CV that the youth’s academic achievements were excellent. He asked, Did you obtain any scholarships in school…? The youth answered “NO”. Who paid for your school fees…? ” Parents “, he replied. “Where did they work……?” “They worked as clothes cleaner.” The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect. “Have you ever helped your parents wash the clothes ?” “Never, my parents always wanted me to study and read more books. Besides, my parents can wash clothes faster than me. The director said, “I have a request.  When you go home today, go and clean your parents hands, and then see me tomorrow morning. The youth felt dejected. When he went back home, he asked his parents to let him...

Stop Holding On...

Image
On the first day of the college, a psychologist entered a room with a glass of water to give a stress management presentation to an audience. He held up the glass as he gyrated the room and everyone watched with little interest as they all expected to be asked the classic "is the glass half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on his face, he inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"  The psychologist had captivated the interest of the audience immediately. Answers were called out throughout the room, “6 oz! 11 oz! 150 grams! 250 grams!” The psychologist replied, "Those are some great guesses, but I actually don’t know the weight of this at all.” The crowd laughed a bit and then the psychologist pressed on. “Although I do not know the absolute weight of this glass of water, let me ask you. What would happen if I held it up in the air like this for a few minutes?” “Nothing” the audience replied. “Ok. What about if I held it l...

The Elephant and The Rope

Image
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.” The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were. Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at...

Getting Inspired

Sometimes we come across certain situations in life which make us feel low and depressed. We often prefer to stay alone and avoid people. We keep all the things to ourselves even though we have a lot of shoulders to lean on. This happens in the life of almost everyone. If we ever observe a flowing river., we can learn a very good lesson from it. A flowing river flows from great heights to large depths But it never stops. When it comes across any obstacle, it creates its own path. Come what may it continues its journey until it reaches the Ocean. In the same way we come across a lot of obstacles in life which will make us depressed, low, dull and may even change our course of life. But, it is completely self-dependent about choosing the right path to follow in order to reach our destination of life. It's all about creating our own path in a righteous way and reactivating ourselves from time to time. And in this process, certain short stories of motivation can help us inspire at...
